Les All Blacks de Nouvelle-Zélande accueillent France Rugby pour une série de trois tests qui débutera samedi à Dunedin.

La Nouvelle-Zélande retrouve la compétition en 2025 après avoir perdu le titre de Rugby Championship face à l'Afrique du Sud en septembre dernier. Cependant, elle sera privée de son troisième ligne clé, Wallace Sititi, élu Révélation de l'année 2024 par le World Rugby, forfait pour la série en raison d'une blessure à la cheville.

Avec Sititi dans l'équipe, Ardie Savea devait retrouver le poste de troisième ligne, un poste qu'il avait excellé avec Moana Pasifika lors de la saison 2025 du Super Rugby Pacifique. Mais sa blessure a perturbé ses plans. Tamaiti Williams manque également la série en raison d'une blessure au genou.

Par ailleurs, la France a de nouveau envoyé une équipe largement inexpérimentée pour la tournée, plusieurs joueurs seniors étant également au repos pour le premier match, après la finale du Top 14 du week-end dernier.

La France n'a pas pu aligner des équipes au complet lors de ces tournées, car cela coïncidait avec son calendrier national de rugby. Par conséquent, les Français n'ont plus battu les All Blacks en Nouvelle-Zélande depuis 2009, et cette série de défaites devrait se poursuivre lors de cette tournée.

The question now is not whether France can compete in the series but whether they can avoid a repeat of the humiliating defeats they suffered seven years ago. In 2018, the a weakened French side were crushed by the All Black in a brutal series whitewash with a 127-38 combined loss across the three tests.

The three-match series will take place entirely in New Zealand and is streaming live in the United States on FloRugby and the FloSports app.

This marks the first meeting between the two nations since France edged New Zealand 30-29 in the 2024 Autumn Nations Series in Paris. That match was decided by a late penalty, but this time the All Blacks are back on home soil, starting their season with a statement opportunity.

Both are expected to contribute again this summer as New Zealand looks to set the tone early in its 2025 campaign.

France has had the All Blacks number for several years now. New Zealand enters the series having lost the last three matches since 2021. The last All Blacks win was in 2018 at Dunedin, where the first match this year will be played.
